Damping
Dampers are split into two sections, Compression and Expansion as they control the speed of the Damper in two directions.
The lower the value, the softer the damping is which allows faster weight transfer and more body roll while a higher value allows a harder ride and less use of the suspension travel.
GT7 relies heavily on weight transfer, Damping can help with keeping a car stable depending on the layout and other settings currently on the car.
Damping Ratio (Compression)
The speed at which the suspension compresses when load is increasing.
Usually affecting the car in the braking zone and corner entry as the weight of the car is shifting forward, a heavier(increased number) rear will create less compression and thus move the weight forward more.
Damping Ratio (Expansion)
The speed at which the suspension expands when load is decreasing. Usually affecting the car as you start to release the brakes or on corner exit, the higher the setting the less the suspension will expand and have a more reactive feel to the car.
Car Behaviour | Turn-in | Corner Exit |
Understeer | Decrease Front Front Damping Ratio | Increase Rear Damping Ratio |
Oversteer | Increase Front Damping Ratio | Decrease Rear Damping Ratio |
